~~~Our Story~~~
_  Born of a passion for buying and eating local food, Sustenance is owned by Chef Neil Stevens. Chef Neil has an extensive background in professional kitchens, catering and restaurants. After working most recently as an executive chef for nearly five years, he was eager to start his own company. Inspired by wife Arden Stevens, previous owner of home-based bakery Pies Over Cakes, and mom Carole "Honey" Stevens, owner of Honey's Homemade Stuff , Chef Neil decided to create wholesome cuisine using local and organic ingredients.
Sustenance has been selling on the Fall Line Farms co-op since 2010, and recently opened up to the Lulus Local Roots markets. Products include soups made with top quality local proteins, vegetables and herbs; compound butters; and gourmet quiches made with farm fresh eggs.
Recently, Chef Neil acquired a large step van that he has converted to a food truck. The Sustenance food truck features seasonally inspired soup, salads and sandwiches made with local products. Delicious sausages from SausageCraft, and Croftburn Farm topped with chef inspired ingredients spanning over many international flavor profiles. 100% All Beef Hot Dogs from Croftburn Farm coupled with a hot dog bun from Weimans and topped with your choice of over 15 'fixins' both traditional and creative. The Sustenance food truck will be roaming the streets, catering, serving events and frequenting local farmer’s markets. Chef Neil and his wife are avid backyard gardeners, and love to play games and go for family bike rides with their son, Tunstall. They are now expecting a new member of the family in mid-June.
